On December 12th, 2015, in Volterra, before the official opening to the public, the exhibition on the italian artistic education of Amedeo Modigliani was the subject of visits by students of the fourth and fifth years of the Art Institute of Volterra.

The pleasant surprise was to see active participation on behalf of students.

This initiative is based exclusively on the draft of the Documentation Centre Amedeo Modigliani designed to show how much this artist, icon of the Novecento, has taken over from Italian tradition and in particular by the ancient masters.

From the very first words, in addition to catalyzed attention, occurred in these students a clear perception towards this issue; clear demonstration of their preparation on Art History.

It must be remembered that we are in a beautiful city that is itself an open-air museum and a history spanning thousands of years.

But we must not lose sight of the past, present and future are inseparable and that arts education is something that is always congenial to our culture.

So, the important finding is the fact that there was an awareness that art is invention and that this feature still has a great educational potential; its deterrent in the dynamic progress of the society, so that the reality is not passively endured.

Brecht had worried indeed to study the function of art as a valuable tool for awareness of reality, of life's problems.

The visit of the students was therefore an happy occasion to bring together the world of education with that of Art; one of the ways to structure a social structure on a human scale.

The hope is that the guys of the Art Institute, offer through their impressions, another piece in the mosaic that the Documentation Centre Amedeo Modigliani is rebuilding.
